Rob McNeill – Principal
Mr. McNeill holds a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary and has 25+ years of domestic and international project and operations experience in the energy industry. Now a veteran SAGD project specialist, Mr. McNeill’s SAGD experience includes successful execution and start up of the Deer Creek Demonstration and Commercial SAGD Facilities, the Connacher Great Divide and Algar Commercial SAGD Facilities, the Southern Pacific McKay River SAGD Project (commissioning imminent) and the Pengrowth Lindbergh Pilot Facility.
Consuelo Gaspar – Principal
Ms. Consuelo Gaspar holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Catholic University of Colombia, South America and completed the International Business Administration Program at the EAN School of Business of Colombia. Ms. Gaspar has 20 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry in establishing work standards and specifications, analyzing cost benefits and enhancing operations management. Currently she is the Chief Executive Officer of Drifter Projects. Prior to her current position, Ms. Gaspar was a key member of the Project Management Team for a multinational oil company in Calgary.
Jane Cavanagh – Senior Project Manager Engineering
Ms. Cavanagh holds both B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. She has 10+ years of engineering and project management experience in both conventional oil & gas and SAGD facilities. Having joined Drifter in 2012, she successfully executed the Pengrowth Lindbergh Commercial SAGD project with the team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility engineering, procurement, and construction, including cost and schedule management, and participation in facility commissioning. Prior to Drifter she worked at a local engineering firm gaining a vast array of project experience, the latest as lead engineer for Southern Pacific’s McKay SAGD facility.
Darcy Derdak – Senior Project Manager Services and Infrastructure
Mr. Derdak holds a CET certification from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and has more than 25 years of project and operations experience in the oil and gas industry. Recently, Mr. Derdak was responsible as General Project Manager for the Southern Pacific McKay River SAGD project, overseeing project management of the Central Processing Facility, well pads, and all connecting infrastructure. Previously he was responsible for the installation of off site utilities, flow lines, and well pad facilities for the Great Divide and Algar SAGD projects. Mr. Derdak has extensive experience in operations and the development of corrosion and chemical programs for oil and gas facilities.
Bill Betts – Senior Project Manager Regulatory
Mr. Betts has 20+ years of Oil Industry experience in the disciplines of drilling, perforating, well logging, fracing, and down hole drilling/completion tools. He also has extensive experience with industrial gasses, pumps and compressors. Recently, he shared responsibility for infrastructure planning and execution of all civil construction at the Connacher Great Divide and Algar Projects. Mr. Betts also has extensive regulatory experience in directing applications and approvals for oil sands projects at the EPEA and EIA level with the ERCB, AEW, ASRD, and CEAA. Mr Betts has a comprehensive understanding of the requirements to conclude stakeholder consultation programs including First Nations, Industry, Government and Private Landowners.
David Loucks – Senior Project Manager Civil
Mr. Loucks holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Calgary. He has 30+ years of experience in the construction industry including 5 years’ experience in earthworks construction for SAGD projects in the Fort McMurray area and extensive work in environmental containment using liner systems for the oil and gas, mining, petrochemical, and municipal sectors. Mr. Loucks was responsible for the design of site grading and containment and planning and execution of all earthworks construction on the Connacher Great Divide, Connacher Algar, Southern Pacific McKay, and Pengrowth Lindbergh SAGD projects. He has also been involved in the planning and preparation of regulatory information for various other projects in the Fort McMurray area. He brings extensive experience in AutoCad (including Civil 3D) and interfaces with engineers, surveyors, drilling, environmental, regulatory, and geology disciplines.
Jason de Jong – Senior Project Manager Evaluations
Mr. de Jong has close to 20 years of project and operations experience in the oil and gas industry. He has recently shared responsibility for infrastructure planning, regulatory approval acquisition/management, and civil construction across the gambit of SAGD projects Drifter has constructed since the Deer Creek Demonstration Facility. Additionally, he has accumulated significant experience in research/development projects, technology evaluation for SAGD projects, and has developed a myriad of detailed, technically based life cycle economic models as they relate to SAGD, Power Generation, and other Industrial Projects.
Rob Raycraft – Construction Superintendent
Mr. Raycraft has 26 years of experience in the energy sector, and joined the Drifter team after selling his successful pipeline and plant construction company in 2005. He has been involved in the construction phases of separators, single well batteries, compressor stations, gas plants, oil batteries and SAGD facilities. Mr. Raycraft prides himself on environmentally friendly projects, that operate with quality and efficiency.
Leanne Ilchuk – Administration Supervisor
Ms. Ilchuk has a total of 15 years in the oil and gas sector, varying from the service sector to oil and gas SAGD construction, and operations administration. Her experience with Drifter started out with being responsible for cost control tracking, and auditing for the Southern Pacific Resources’s SAGD construction project, and then followed through to assisting their operations team on various projects. Her other site duties are work force site accommodations, set up and management, and assisting all project leads as needed. Her experience also plays into SAGD operations by assisting junior companies with setting up administration procedures, and systems to effectively manage plant fluids for internal and external bodies, and cost control tracking to help clients understand their profitability and cash accruals. She can assist with office set up, as well as hiring and training of future office staff to best complement the operations team and their specific needs.
Mark Burren – Superintendent Mechanical Inspection
Mr. Burren holds a Mechanical Engineering Diploma and Power Engineering Diploma both from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a 3rd class steam ticket. He has 16 years experience in the oil and gas industry with the last 9+ years focused in SAGD facilities. He has been occupied with the responsibilities of reviewing plans, directing contractors, interfacing with clients, supervision and quality control of construction, execute schedule within project management guidelines and budgets. He has been involved in an extensive range of projects, recently including: construction, start up, and commissioning of Chinook Energy’s sour gas compressor and pipeline gathering Red Creek Battery, Southern Pacific Resources 10,000 bbl/day McKay SAGD Facility and the deconstruction of a piece of the Suncor Dover SAGD site.
Doug Simpson – Senior Mechanical Inspector Facilities
Mr. Simpson holds a Power Engineering Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a 3rd class steam ticket. He has 16+ years in SAGD and conventional oil & gas operations, with the last 6 years in Mechanical Inspection. His extensive operational background is a great benefit in design, construction & start-up of any project. Mr. Simpson has overseen several construction projects with Drifter, the most recent being Pengrowth’s 1200 bbl/day pilot project, along with the Pengrowth Lindbergh Commercial SAGD operation.
James Sarkozi – Senior Mechanical Inspector Facilities
Mr. Sarkozi holds a Power Engineering Diploma from the Grande Prairie Regional College, with a 3rd class steam ticket. He has 15 years experience in both SAGD and conventional oil and gas projects. 8 years were focused in SAGD facilities and the last 6 years within Inspection. His responsibilities have included work done at the Connacher Great Divide, Connacher Algar, Southern Pacific McKay River and Pengrowth’s Lindbergh SAGD projects.
Michael Facca – Senior Mechanical Inspector Facilities
Mr. Facca holds a Power Engineering Diploma from the SIAST College, with a 2nd class steam ticket. He has 10 years experience in both SAGD, conventional oil, and Nitrogen Fertilizer plants. 7 years were focused in SAGD facilities, and the last 2 years within Inspection. His responsibilities with Drifter Projects include Pengrowth’s Lindbergh SAGD projects.
Matthew Loader – Electrical Superintendent
Mr. Loader holds a Master Electrician Certification from (NAIT) Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He has worked in the industrial electrical field in Alberta for over 15 years in both construction and maintenance. Matthew has spent the last 6 years with Drifter Projects as an Electrical Inspector, and has worked on our Connacher Algar Commercial, Southern Pacific McKay River, Pengrowth Lindbergh Pilot, and Pengrowth Lindbergh Commercial projects.
Chad Smith – Senior Instrumentation Inspector
Mr. Smith holds a Red Seal Journeyman Certificate, as a Instrument Technician and Electrician. He has worked in the oil and gas industry for 15+ years in both construction and maintenance. Chad has spent the last 6 years working in SAGD facilities, and the last 2 years have been with Drifter Projects as an Inspector. His responsibilities have included work done at the Pengrowth Lindbergh Commercial SAGD project.
Rene Schoonderbeek – Senior Safety Inspector
Mr. Schoonderbeek holds a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety specializing in work place safety from the University of Calgary. Prior to joining Drifter Projects in 2008 he worked full time in Emergency services for 25yrs and now volunteers with the Town of Olds fire Dept where Rene is the Assistant Fire Chief, and a Registered Emergency Medical Technician. He is also a certified Instructor in many safety training programs such as H2S Alive and Basic Life Support, and Confined Space Entry and Rescue. Since being with Drifter Projects he has overseen safety at Connacher Oil and Gas, Southern Pacific Resources, N-Solve, and Pengrowth Energy Corporation.
Don Schill – Senior Pipeline Inspector
Mr. Schill has 25+ years of construction experience in the oil and gas industry. He joined the Drifter team in 2013 as mechanical inspector, and has been involved with hundreds of miles of pipeline varying in sizes from 3” right up to 12”. He has also worked with single well oil batteries, gas facilities, separators, compressors, and dealt with numerous fabrication shop inspectors.
